Release Radio Underground Dance Music From The UK
I have an appreciation for Soulful, Funky, Jazzy and Feel Good Music…. I have also been Blessed and Influenced by some of the world’s greatest singers, song writers, producers, musicians, remixers and DJs from the 70s, 80s, 90s to present day..
My music influences are varied and include Gospel, Old School Soul, 90s R&B /Soul, Neo-Soul, Jazz, Funk, Latin, Afro-Beats, Hip-Life, Afro-Beat, Hi-Life, Blues, Hip-Hop/Rap, Reggae / Dub, Salsa, Soulful / Deep House – to name a few…
My passion for music started from a young age, probably around 8 or 9 years old, while being asked to change 7″ inch records for my parents whenever we had visitors.
This led to me discovering a world of music via the radio throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s – thanks mainly to some of my favourite DJs at the time like: Robbie Vincent, Jeff Young, Tony Munson, Greg Edwards, Dr Bob Jones, Chris Philips, Jez Nelson, Giles Peterson, David Rodigan, Jazzie B, Norman Jay, Kev Beadle, Tim Westwood, Pete Tong and the late greats: Peter Young (Capital Radio /Jazz FM), DJ Froggy (Steve Howlett), Tony Williams (Radio London), Tony Walsh and Tony Prince (Radio Luxembourg / DMC) to name a few….
Over the years I have amassed an extensive Vinyl and CD collection purchased mainly from the iconic Slough Record Centre (which is where I got to know Joe Borgia who also went on to open his own record shop in Slough and Uxbridge).
Having a large Vinyl and CD collection encouraged me to create my own mixtapes, CDs and mini-discs for family / friends which would develop into informal invitations to DJ at various house parties / social events in and around the Berkshire and London areas.
Then, eventually leading me to DJing for themed events and venues like: Club Dimanche (The Landmark Cafe) – a weekly event that I did in collaboration with Kevin Lloyd and 2 other DJs (Pups and Sean O) and this event succeeded in filling a space that was missing in Slough at the time catering for lovers of quality upfront and rare Soul, Funk , Jazz and Hip-Hop flavours on a Sunday afternoon – hence the name “Club Dimanche”.
I have also done regular slots for a local pirate radio station (where I first met Clint Tee) as well as some voluntary work for a local hospital radio.
I have also been a featured DJ for various residencies like The Spirit of Soul (Club No 9) and Hardtimes (Camden Lock) events during the early to mid 90s.
Choosing to spend more time with my family and focus on a career, I faded out of the Club DJing scene but still maintained my passion for music. Now several years later, hooking up with my good friend Kevin Lloyd for a guest spot on his Saturday Soul Show in November 2020 helped to reignite my passion for DJing and that show led to another guest appearance in December 2021 and then a number of cover slots later for Release Radio DAB. Following this, the opportunity of a regular slot every Saturday morning between 10 – 12 became available. I started my regular slot on Saturday 5th March 2022 and the rest as they say – is history.
My mission is to share good music with people who feel music… Join me for the journey
Thanking God for Love, Life and Music
