The tune Energy Flash by Joey Beltram started Maynies love of all things House and Techno when his mate from school brought in a mixtape and was pretty much hooked after that. Colin Faver was probably his biggest influence from back in the early days of Kiss FM.
Maynie saved up and eventually bought his first pair of Technics 1200s in 93 and dj’d at house parties and small events throughout the 90s.
Clubbing and raving in the 90’s was a special time and what he plays now is hopefully a reflection of all those times – Maynie loves the classics. Nights out at SW1 Club, Satellite club, Camden Palace, Bagleys and Strawberry Sundaes to name but a few also have helped shape his music collection. He loves the early Progressive House from labels like Guerilla, Hooj Choons but loves all genres from Deep House, Tech House, Progressive, Acid plus Old Skool rave.
While the switch to digital is inevitable Maynie loves playing vinyl and its great to be able to play his records to the Release FM listeners. However new to DJing on radio, Maynie has expressed everyone at Release FM has been really supportive and the listeners so far have been brilliant and also commented that it’s a fantastic station and its great to be a part of it.
